Regular Maintenance

The secret to a beautiful, lasting carpet is regular cleaning such as vacuuming. This applies to both commercial and residential carpets. Some regular maintenance tips:

• Vacuum weekly

• Spot clean immediately after a spill, or a stain may set

• If you have rugs, look at the care tag to determine the best method of regular cleaning

• Vacuum rugs (and underneath!) at least once a week, wash once a month or every other month

• Furniture sliders for the legs of your couches, tables, chairs, etc. to prevent damage 

• If you use a carpet cleaning product, conduct a spot test in an out of view area

• Professional carpet cleaning at least once a year!

Spot Cleaning

Spot cleaning can be frustrating, how do you know if a spot is truly clean? Luckily, if you get to a spill or accident quickly, a stain or odor will have a more difficult time settling into the deeper layers of our carpet. Some tips on spot cleaning:

• Blot a mess ASAP, don’t scrub or you risk rubbing in the substance/ damage

• When blotting, use a lightly colored cleaning rag to see how much of the mess has been soaked up

• Use a spot cleaner (make sure test it before you need it) you can call your local Chem-Dry to purchase our World Famous Spot Remover that has removed millions of stains all over the globe

• More is not always better with spot cleaning products, too much will leave your carpets soaked. Make sure to follow your cleaner’s instructions carefully

• If the spot is urine, don’t use a steam cleaner as the heat can set the stain and smell. Use either a cool wet vac or cool water if necessary.
